Shivapuri Nagarkot Trek is one of the famous short trekking routes around Kathmandu valley. Shivapuri Nagarkot Trek is envisioned to offer you a novel chance to explore the numerous wonders of nature, rural areas of Nepal and also the awe ennobling magnificence and sweetness of dramatic mountain views. Shivapuri region falls under the protection of Shivapuri National park which is the nearest national park from Kathmandu situated in the perimeter of the valley just outside the noisy city of Kathmandu. Shivapuri National Park region lies in the transition zone between the subtropical and temperate climate, with diverse vegetation depending on altitude variation. This Shivapuri Nagarkot trek is one of the best treks to view Mount Everest as well as other snow-topped peaks of the Himalayan range of eastern part of Nepal. The village of Nagarkot is on the edge of the valley and offer 360 degree panoramic views of the mountains including sunrise and sun set as well as Kathmandu valley.

Your first destination is Chisapani where you will be enjoying the real blessing of nature being away from the clamor of city and your interaction with the villagers will add another experience. Early sunrise view at Nagarkot is the most mesmerizing and enthralling view. The most popular walk leads down from Nagarkot along a ridge to the temple of Changunarayan-with views of Sankhu village to the right and Bhaktapur to the left.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal and treks to Chisapani 

Day 02: Trek from Chisapani 2194m to Nagarkot 2175m.

Day 03: Trek from Nagarkot to Changunarayan and back to Kathmandu.

Day 01: Drive about one hour from Kathmandu to Sundarijal. Trek from Sunjdarijal to Chisapani takes about six hours. The trail passes through the Shivpuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve and the first village you will come across is Mulkharka with Tamang habitants. The way heads down the ridge through a forest of oaks and rhododendron to Chisapani (2300m.). Overnight at lodge in Chisapani.

Day 02: Trek from Chisapani to Nagarkot takes about six and half hours. We start from Chauki Bhanjyang in the lap of nature watching dense forest, birds and landscape you continue the pleasant trails leading towards Nagarkot (2175m). Overnight at lodge in Nagarkot.

Day 03: After watching sunrise through mountain ranges we trek from Nagarkot down to Changunarayan which takes approximately three and half hours and drive from Changunarayan to Kathmandu. Overnight at lodge in Kathmandu.
