Island Peak is 6187 meters high and one of the most popular and busy trekking peak in Nepal, also known as Imja Tse, lies in the Khumbu Himalayan range. Island Peak takes its name from its appearance due to its striking resemblance to an island on a sea of ice. It is cushioned in the heart of the Khumbu region at 6,189m.If you are seeking the thrill of adventure and wish to widen your experience towards the peak climbing expedition beyond simply trekking in Nepal, this is the mountain for you.The summit of Island peak stands adjacent to one of the world’s largest ice walls and offers stunning views of Ama Dablam and the pyramid of Makalu. Your historical effort to pinnacle the peak will be rewarded with undoubtedly one of the best panoramic views in the world as you feel Lhotse, Nuptse, Baruntse, Ama Dablam and Makalu are almost touching the tip of your nose. Descending with a sagacity of accomplishment, our route takes us into many cultural sites, such as Pangboche, a traditional Sherpa village; Tengboche, famous for its ornately decorated Tibetan monasteries and Khumjung with Hillary school inside the clouds and mysterious Yeti scalp.
Island peak climbing starts with the flight to the remote mountain town of Lukla. From here we start our trek into the Khumbu region of the Himalayas. Once there, we follow an earliest route that journeys through tiny villages, across high mountain passes, and through remote valleys. The views grow more spectacular as we venture up the Dudh Kosi River to Namche Bazaar - the gateway to the Khumbu region. A rewarding hike leads to our expedition then continues to Imja Tse, or Island Peak and plunder us with glorious views of Ama Dablam, South Face of Lhotse and Everest. From the top of Island Peak there are stunning views of Lhotse and Makalu, the 4th and 5th highest mountains in the world, respectively. The return trek continues to delight exploratory souls with more stunning mountain views, lush forested valleys, and opportunities to learn about the Nepalese religion and culture.
