On the this Gokyo Lake & Everest View trekking in the shade of towering Mt. Everest at 8, 848 m / 29, 028 ft high, a mountain known by several names Sagarmatha in Nepali and Chomolungma in Sherpa / Tibetan both languages means ‘Great Mother’ which straddles the border of Nepal and Tibet / China.
Gokyo Lake & Everest View trekking a great combination adventure with scenic walks and exploring local Sherpa cultures and interesting monasteries, walking into pristine alpine woodland of tall rhododendron and pine trees to short bushes of azalea and junipers.
Beginning from Kathmandu with sweeping scenic flight to gateway of Everest at Lukla and then walking into cultural villages of Sherpa the High-Landers of Everest to reach our picturesque high destination at Gokyo Lake located beneath world 6th highest Mt. Cho-Oyu at 8,201 m / 26,906 ft. At Gokyo with climb to scenic view point at Gokyo Ri for sweeping panorama of world 4 highest peaks of Mt. Everest-Lhotse-Makalu and Cho-Oyu with range of peaks that extends eastern horizon.
After an exciting and fantastic time around Gokyo Lake leading to another scenic spot at Thyangboche Monastery before completing this wonderful Gokyo Lake & Everest View trek at Lukla with flight back to Kathmandu.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel
Day 02: Fly to Lukla 2,830 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m - 04 hrs.
Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 05 hrs.
Day 04: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.
Day 05: Trek to Dole 4,110 m - 05 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Machherma 4,470 m- 04 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Gokyo 4,790 m -04 hrs.
Day 08: At Gokyo hike to Gokyo-Ri 5,357 m trek to Na and towards Phortse - 04 hrs.
Day 09: Trek to Phortse village 3, 810 m - 04 hrs.
Day 10: Trek to Tengboche 3,867 m - 05 hrs.
Day 11: Trek to Monjo 2,860 m - 06 hrs.
Day 12: Trek to Lukla - 05 hrs.

Day 01: Arrival
in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
At Kathmandu Tribhuvan International
Airport on fresh arrival where you will be warmly received by Life Himalaya
Trekking staff and then with transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu
city, after refreshment our guide / leader will brief you on Gokyo Lake &
Everest View trekking, includes other information related to this trip,
includes welcome dinner in a nice Nepali restaurant with culture programs.
Day 02: Fly
to Lukla 2,830 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m - 04 hrs.
Mornings, a short scenic flight to
Lukla with views of mountain range, on reaching Lukla and with short
refreshment break, starting the first day walk towards Phakding village for
overnight stop through farm villages, a moderate walk with few short ups
overlooking beautiful scenery along the route to Phakding located by Dudh Kosi River.
Day 03: Trek
to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 05 hrs.
After a nice morning, walk
continues crossing bridges over Dudh Kosi River passing several interesting
villages of Toc-Toc, Bhenkar and Monjo arriving at Sagarmatha National Park entrance
gate, from here on the river bed for few hours and after the last bridge a
steep uphill to Namche Bazaar, at Namche with facilities of good restaurant,
pubs, cyber café, post office, and banks.
Day 04: Rest
day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.
An ideal and perfect place for
rest with acclimatization day, before heading higher altitude area, morning a
short hike to Everest View Hotel or walk up on top a hill of Namche for views
of Everest, Amadablam and adjoining peaks, visit the museum.
Day 05: Trek to Dole 4,110 m - 05 hrs.
After a pleasant stop at Namche, morning walk leads above Namche towards higher
ridges to join the main trail at near Shanasa
village. From this spot our route diverts away from the main Namche-Everest base
camp trail towards quiet areas towards Gokyo Lake.
The path climbs with steep climb to
reach a Mong 3,973 meters with amazing views and then downhill walk to Dudh
Kosi River at Phortse Thanghka for lunch.
After this small settlement continue walk
to Dole as the trail climbs steeply out of the valley through a patch of
rhododendron forest which gives way to juniper and conifers trees. In the
spring time this place will be magic with wild flowers in full bloom. This path
passes summer Yak pastures.
The trek leads past Tongba and Gyele villages
to reach at Dole with super view of Khumbila and Tawache 6,542m.
Day 06: Trek to Macherma 4,470 m -04 hrs.
Morning walk from Dole climbs along
the side of the valley, where rhododendron forest stops, giving way to smaller
bushes of juniper as you gain altitude slowly. Finally walk leads on level path
for an hour to Lhabarma Kharka and to Luza at 4,390m; and then skirting around
a ridge with downhill to Macherma village. Arriving at Macherma for lunch and overnight stop
with time in the afternoon for short walk or just relax
Day 07: Trek to Gokyo 4,790m -04 hrs.
From this small settlement our walks
continues to Gokyo 3rd
Lake, following a scenic path to Pangka small
area and then descend slightly, following one of the glacial fed rivers which
flows from Ngozumba Glacier of high world 6
the highest Cho-Oyu and
other adjoining peaks.
Walk leads to a climb by the side of a
glacier, passing first lake and the second lake, crossing the path to reach at
third lake known as Dudh Pokhari or Gokyo Lake a summer settlement with
fantastic views of Mt. Cho Oyo and Gyachung Kang that reflects on emerald green
waters of Gokyo Lake.
Day 08: Morning hike to Gokyo-Ri and walk to Na
or beyond - 04 hrs.
Morning hike uphill to Gokyo Ri one of
the highlight of this trip, a small peak above the lake, Gokyo Ri at 5,357m offers
panorama of Mt. Cho Oyo, Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse, Taweche
and far as to Mt. Makalu.
After a wonderful stop at Gokyo Ri,
head downhill to Gokyo for lunch and rest, afternoon short walk of few hours to
Na, a small place located at the foot of Ngozumba glacier with time head
further for another hour for overnight stop.
Day 09: Trek to Phortse village 3, 810 m - 04
Starting from this isolated area
beneath towering Cholatse peak on the least trekked trail to Phortse village,
morning walks leads downhill for short 3-4 hours, to reach another sleepy
village at Pangboche for lunch and overnight stop. Afternoon explore this nice
small Sherpa village, where trekkers hardly use this route.
Day 10: Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m - 05 hrs.
Leaving Phortse village with
super views of Amadablam, on the gradual up and winding path to reach at upper
Pangboche near its old Gompa (monastery). After a rest and lunch break head
downhill losing altitude and back into tree lines, as the walk leads over a
short steel bridge over Imjatse River. From the bridge an hour or more climb
brings you at famous and scenic Thyangboche Monastery, located on a small plateau
surrounded by beautiful forest of rhododendron-pines-oaks and birch trees.
Here with time to visit this interesting monastery (which was badly damaged by
fire in 1991 and rebuilt back into original shape) with magnificent panorama of Mt.
Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kangtenga, Thamasarku, Kwande and majestic Amadablam.
Day 11: Trek
to Monjo 2,860m - 06 hrs.
After a great time around
beautiful Thyangboche Monastery area, descend to Imjatse River and then with
steep climb for an hour to Sanasa, from here on gradual winding path with few short
ups and downs to Namche Bazaar, a break here and then walk back to Dudh Kosi
river valley and to Monjo for overnight stop.
Day 12: Trek to Lukla - 04 hrs.
Morning walktowardsPhakding on a nice pleasant trail to Luklawith last climb of an hour, on reaching Lukla celebrate last night
dinner with fellow trekkers and staff.
Day 13: Fly
back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
From Lukla taking an early morning flight back to Kathmandu with views of
mountains, at Kathmandu domestic airport our staff transfers you back to
respective hotels with rest of the day free at leisure.
Day 14: In
Kathmandu free day with sightseeing tour.
We reserve this day in Kathmandu as spare day in case of flight delay and
cancellation in Lukla, due to bad weather which might happen sometimes, as the
Himalayan weather can be unpredictable if all goes according to our program,
enjoy a free day with sightseeing tour of Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur.
Day 15: International
departure homeward bound.
Last day in amazing Nepal and its
massive Himalaya, after a memorable and fantastic moment around Gokyo Lake
& Everest View experience, Life Himalaya staff transfer you to Kathmandu
international airport for your flight back home or to next respective
