Mani Rimdu Festival at Tengboche or Thyangboche usually held in the mid October or early November as per the Tibetan Buddhist Luna calendar, for exact dates we will inform you for your interest.     

Mani Rimdu in Tengboche a Sherpa festival celebrated during the fall (October / November months) at Tengboche Monastery in the Everest region, which last for 5 days, Lamas and Sherpa community gather for “the good of the world”. There are plays, masked dances, prayers, and feastings. Demons are quelled and dutifully rewarded. The days are colorful and trek to Everest region are worth-while and rewarding.

Everest Mani Rimdu Festival begins with a scenic flight out of Kathmandu to land at Lukla and then following a scenic trail uphill to Namche Bazaar to reach at our main destination at Tengboche Monastery for the wonderful and exciting event.

After a grand enjoyable moment heading back to Lukla for a short scenic flight to Kathmandu to conclude this amazing trip Everest Mani Rimdu Festival.

Beside the Festival this wonderful walk offers glorious views of Mt. Everest (8,848m / 29, 028ft) Lhotse (8,516 m-24,940 ft), Nuptse (7,855m-25,772 ft) Amadablam ( 6,812 m / 22,480 ft) Kangtenga (6,782 m / 22, 380 ft) Tharmarserku ( 6,623 m / 21, 855 ft) Kwangde (6,011 m / 19,837 ft) Kusum Khanguru (6,373 m / 21,030 ft) holy peak of Khumbi-la (5,761 m / 19,012 ft) includes many other smaller unnamed peaks. 

Brief itinerary:             

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

Day 02: Fly to Lukla 2,830 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m - 04 hrs.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 05 hrs.

Day 04: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.

Day 05: Trek to Tengboche 3,867 m - 05hrs. 

Day 06: Observe Mani Rimdu Festival.

Day 07: Trek to Monjo 2,860 m - 05 hrs. 

Day 08: Trek to Lukla - 04 hrs.

Day 09: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.

Day 10: International departure for home ward bound. 

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.  

At Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport on fresh arrival where you will be warmly received by Life Himalaya Trekking staff and then with transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla 2,830 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m - 04 hrs.

Mornings, a short scenic flight to Lukla with views of mountain range, on reaching Lukla and with short refreshment break, starting the first day walk towards Phakding village for overnight stop through farm villages, a moderate walk with few short ups overlooking beautiful scenery along the route to Phakding located by Dudh Kosi River.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 05 hrs.

After a nice morning, walk continues crossing bridges over Dudh Kosi River passing several interesting villages of Toc-Toc, Bhenkar and Monjo arriving at Sagarmatha National Park entrance gate, from here on the river bed for few hours and after the last bridge a steep uphill to Namche Bazaar, at Namche with facilities of good restaurant, pubs, cyber café, post office, and banks.

Day 04: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.

An ideal and perfect place for rest with acclimatization day, before heading higher altitude area, morning a short hike to Everest View Hotel or walk up on top a hill of Namche for views of Everest, Amadablam and adjoining peaks, visit the museum.

Day 05: Trek to Tengboche 3,867 m - 05hrs.

From Namche morning walk leads to a short climb and then on gradual and scenic trail with
glorious views of snow-clad peaks with Everest and magnificent Amadablam, after few hours of good walk downhill to Imjatse River at Phunge-Tenga for lunch.

Afternoon an uphill climb into rhododendron, pines and firs tree forest with views of peaks slowly our walk leads at scenic spot at Tengboche with its famous Buddhist monastery overlooking views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kangtenga, Thamasarku, Kwande and majestic Amadablam. Afternoon observe the local interesting crowd and the festival preparations of Mani Rimdu by the young monks and priests.

Day 06:  Observe Mani Rimdu Festival.

Getting up early to catch the surrounding panorama of mountains and to get close with best available spot to watch the Mani Rimdu performance inside the monastery complex where you will be engrossed for full day observing festival and watching local Sherpa people in their traditional attire performing religious rites and offering, and taking part in the Mani Rimdu festival. The Mani Rimdu festival is one of the most important for Sherpa community which is held as per Tibetan Buddhist calendar.

Mani Rimdu Festival follows with series of masked dances where monks and priests clad in elaborate masks and costumes dramatize the triumph of Buddhism over Bon (an ancient animistic religion sect of Tibet).

Day 07:  Trek to Monjo 2,860m - 06 hrs.

After an enjoyable moment observing the festival and local highlanders of Everest the Sherpa people, walks leads downhill towards Namche Bazaar and continue trek following Dudh-Kosi River crossing few bridges to reach at Jorsalle, from here a short walk to Monjo with last short climb to enter Sagarmatha National Park gate, and then transfer back to respective lodge for overnight stop.

Day 08:  Trek to Lukla - 04 hrs.

Morning walktowards Phakding on a nice pleasant trail to Lukla with last climb of an hour, on reaching Lukla celebrate last night dinner with fellow trekkers and staff.

Day 09:  Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.

From Lukla taking an early morning flight back to Kathmandu with views of mountains, at Kathmandu domestic airport our staff transfers you back to respective hotels with rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 10:  International departure homeward bound.

Last day in amazing Nepal and its massive Himalaya, after a memorable and fantastic time in Everest Mani Rimdu Festival Trekking, Life Himalaya staff transfer you to Kathmandu international airport for your flight back home or to next respective countries.
